Maintenance Supervisor/Manager (Food Manufacturing)
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Supervisor/Manager oversees maintenance operations in food manufacturing facility spanning multiple shifts and locations, ensuring equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and compliance with food safety standards. This role involves implementing 5S lean manufacturing principles and managing KPIs to drive performance, reduce waste, and optimize productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and motivate the maintenance team, promoting a culture of lean and continuous improvement.
- Schedule work to align with production needs while integrating 5S methodologies.
- Develop and execute maintenance programs, incorporating preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance with a lean approach.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with production to ensure minimal disruption, using 5S for efficiency.
- Plan/coordinate annual plant shutdown maintenance
- Develop and monitor maintenance-related KPIs.
- Use KPIs to highlight areas for improvement, drive decision-making, and quantify the success of lean initiatives.
- Regularly review KPIs with the team to foster a data-driven culture and identify trends or issues.
- Control the maintenance budget with a focus on lean cost management, ensuring investments in lean tools pay off in efficiency gains.
- Manage inventory- ensuring parts and materials are available without overstocking.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with all regulations, integrating 5S for enhanced safety and cleanliness.
- Conduct safety and 5S audits to maintain high standards.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment issues, leveraging lean techniques to improve repair times and methods.
- Recommend and implement technology that aligns with lean principles to enhance performance.
- Aid in plant design, configure, engineering and installation
- Train staff on 5S, lean manufacturing, and the importance of KPIs in their daily work.
- Mentor technicians to embrace continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
- Keep meticulous records of maintenance activities, 5S compliance, and KPI data.
- Prepare and present performance reports to senior management, highlighting the impact of lean and KPI management.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Technical education preferred or equivalent knowledge and experience
- Experience and/or certification in lean manufacturing, 5S, and KPI management is advantageous.
Experience:
- 5+ years in maintenance management with a proven track record in lean manufacturing environments.
Skills:
- Strong leadership, capable of driving lean culture and KPI-focused performance.
- Expertise in applying 5S and lean tools in maintenance contexts.
- Proficiency in data analysis for KPI management.
- Knowledge of food safety and how to integrate lean practices for compliance.
- Bilingual strongly recommended
